Dear Brother and Sisters at arms,
If you're not familiar with the Department Pool League it can be found on Facebook, just search Department of Michigan VFW Pool League. On this page you will find pictures covering the 56 year rich history of the league, records, Memorial of our fallen pool players, Stats, Past state champions in singles, doubles & teams, Host Post's, Rules & Bylaws, etc.
Our staff has begun recruiting efforts with flyers that were released recently, and raffle tickets have been disbursed to all the district pool chairman to financially support this event.
I have started doing live videos on Facebook to promote more exposure to our league. In an effort to help this league to continue to grow I need your help as well. We need some representation across the state as always, but we have not had any participation from the following districts. (6, 7, 8, 14 & 15) in years. So please District Officers if you have interest in your districts, please appoint a pool league chairman and put them in contact with me. Grab a pen and write this # down 989-971-3650. That is my phone # and please get the word out to those that maybe interested. The pool league is a great recruiting tool so let's make it happen.
The 57th Annual Pool Tournament will be held in the 12th District at Post# 4499 Walsh in Manistee, Mi. on April 24th (Singles) 25th (Doubles) & 26th Team Event) followed by a dinner and awards banquet. If you have any questions, please call me at 989-971-3650 and I can provide proper direction to get involved with this yearly event. You never know if you try it, you just might like it isn't that right comrades Lopez, Gorski & Williams.
I will always appreciate any financial support that we can get. We have raffle tickets for sale, and they are a $1 a piece they come in books of 25. With your generous donation I can make this very easy where you don't have to see me in person for purchase. If you have PayPal, Venmo or Cash App on your phones you just go to (@TheKidd88 (PayPal), @Don-Smith-393 (Venmo) or $VFWPool (Cash App) and supply your name the amount you want to donate and hit send. Once received I fill those ticket stubs out and sent a screen shot back to for your proof of purchase. It's just that easy! Cash prizes for the winners are $500, $250 and two cash prizes of $100.
Lastly, we had great success with our 1st Annual Golf Outing (The Veterans Memorial Invitational). So, we are going to be doing it again and the date is set for August 23rd, 2025, at Flushing Valley Golf Course in Flushing. Mi. $80 per player/$320 per team & $20 skins per team. There will be a flyer coming out in the coming weeks with more details and will be posted on the VFW of Michigan web page.
