2025 Day of Service Project
This year VFW Post 6464 has chosen its day of service project as cleaning the 41 Veterans Headstones in the two Veterans section of Greenwood Cemetery in Fowlerville Michigan.
VFW Post 6464 will be working with the local Monument Company to obtain the proper cleaning solution for cleaning the headstones. Once the Headstones are cleaned and thoroughly rinsed, a geranium will be placed in front of each cleaned Headstone.
Our Day of Service is on May 17, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery starting at 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Any Veteran Family who would like us to clean a veteran’s headstone other than the two-veteran section of Greenwood Cemetery and or Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fowlerville, Michigan 48836 should contact VFW Post 6464 via email with the name of the cemetery, lot location, and name on the headstone. This should be sent by email to vfwpost6464@gmail.com no later than May 15, 2025.
All community organization are encouraged to participate i.e., Scouting, Youth, School and Civic organizations are welcome. Please bring buckets, soft bristled brushes, shovels. Cleaning solution will be provided.
The Post is soliciting suggestions for next year's day of service project. Project can be coordinated with any School, Civic and youth organization that can make a difference for our community.

2025 Day of Service Project
This year VFW Post 6464 had chosen for its day of service project, the cleaning of 41 Veterans Headstones in the two Veterans section of Greenwood Cemetery, Fowlerville Michigan.
On May 17, 2025, seven VFW Post 6464 members met at Greenwood Cemetery to clean 41 Veterans Headstones in the two veteran’s sections. We scheduled 4 hours for the project and competed it in 2 hours.
Total Hours for this project 24 hours to include planning and picking up Supplies. Collectively 210 miles were driven. The post spent $125.99 for cleaning supplies from Heritage Monument Company, Fowlerville, Michigan and Walmart Super Center in Fowlerville. $206.31 for 42 red geraniums obtained from Christians Green House, Williamston, Michigan, and $85.00 for News Article in Fowlerville News and View.
Through our news article we did receive one request from a veteran’s family to clean her father’s headstone at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. The headstone was cleaned and a Red Geranium planted on grave site as requested.
