Employer of the Year and VFW Member of the Year
Comrades,
The updated Community Service Program is located on the Department website.
The VFW Member of the Year Nomination Form and the VFW Employer of the year Nomination Form have been revised. They are also attached to this email.
The deadline for nomination forms for both programs remain March 28 to the Department Community Service Director or to Department Headquarters.
We encourage Post officers to review both of these valuable programs. Increase your Post exposure in your community by recognizing an employer for employing veterans., and there is no better way to recognize hard working Post members than by nominating them for VFW Member of the Year. A Post may nominate more than one candidate in each program.
If you are nominating a Post Member for VFW Member of the Year you may also want to nominate them for State of Michigan Commanders Group Veteran of the Year. The link to the nomination form is on the slider on the banner on the Department website.
We look forward to seeing your Post nominations to recognize these assets to your Post and Community.

On April 12 the Department Auxiliary will be hosting a "Baby Shower” at Midland VFW Post 3651 from noon to 4:00 pm to support the families of veterans in the huge catchment area of Saginaw VA Medical Center and all of the outpatient clinics under their control. Any family expecting a new child or with a recent addition is welcome to attend the shower. No registration is necessary, and lunch will be provided.
The Department is encouraging all VFW Posts that have not yet donated to Operation Bottom Cover or want to add to their prior contribution to make your donations to Department prior to April 1, 2025.
We intend to join with our Department Auxiliary to support this program. Please consider making your Post donation now!
Donations received after April 1 will be used to support the Auxiliary National Program, but we do want to keep as many of these dollars in Michigan as possible.
